Pacers trying to hang on
Indiana is hanging on to the third spot in the East right now, one game ahead of Philly and 1.5 games ahead of Boston. The Pacers have lost four of their last six games following a 117-98 loss at Milwaukee on Thursday night. Indiana is 42-24 on the season, 17-15 on the road, 34-32 against the spread and 37-29 with the under.
The Pacers are one of the stronger defensive teams in the NBA, allowing just 103.9 points per game while limiting opponents to 44.9 percent shooting. Offensively, Indiana is putting up 108.5 points per game while shooting 47.8 percent from the field. Domantas Sabonis and Tyreke Evans are both questionable today with injuries. Sabonis is putting up 14.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game this season. Bojan Bogdanovic is the current leader with 17.7 points per contest.
76ers in a funk
Philadelphia is coming off a 107-91 loss at Houston on Friday. The 76ers have now dropped three of their last four games. Philly is now 41-25 on the season, 25-9 at home, 31-35 against the spread and 34-32 with the under.
The 76ers are a strong offensive team, averaging 115 points per game while shooting 47.2 percent as a team. Defensively, Philly is giving up 112 points per game while opponents shoot 45.5 percent against them. Joel Embiid is questionable to play today due to a knee injury. He has missed the last eight games for the 76ers. Embiid averages 27.3 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. Tobias Harris is adding 20.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Indiana
The Pacers are 1-7 against the spread in their last eight road games against a team with a winning home record and 1-4 ATS in their last five against Atlantic Division opponents.
Philadelphia
The 76ers are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 conference games.
Prediction:
Philly has taken a few lumps as of late, but I think they will bounce back today. With our without Embiid, the 76ers still have a lot more scoring options than Indiana. The Pacers could be without some key role players today and are already without Victor Oladipo. I don’t see the Indiana defense being able to hold down the 76ers in Philly. The Pacers just don’t have the offensive weapons to keep pace with Philadelphia on the road.
NBA Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers -5.5
