Suns vs. Hornets Pick
501 Phoenix Suns at 502 Charlotte Hornets, 5PM ET
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Hornets are an 11.5-point favorite to win on the spread line. The total is set at 220 points.
Charlotte opened as a 10.5-point favorite before the spread was bumped up a point, while the total has jumped up from 216.5. The Hornets are an 11.5-point favorite at every offshore sportsbook, while in Las Vegas they can be found as an 11-point fave at select books. The total can be found at either 219.5 or 220 so make sure you shop around if you are interested in betting the over-under.
As of Saturday afternoon, 52 percent of public bets have sided with the Hornets. Online wager info also says that 53 percent of bets are coming in on the over.
INJURY TO WATCH
Phoenix has a slew of important players who are injured. Center Tyson Chandler (shoulder) and shooting guard Devin Booker (strained triceps) are both questionable to play. TJ Warren (back) and Josh Jackson (knee) are both doubtful. Tyler Ulis (back) is out indefinitely. For the Hornets, Michael Carter-Williams has a tear in his shoulder and is expected to miss the rest of the seaosn.
The spread is big and the Hornets aren't exactly the best team to bet on with a huge line, but if the Suns are missing so many key pieces as an already bad basketball team it seems like Charlotte is the right bet here. The Hornets won 115-110 at Phoenix on Feb. 4 and that was with the Suns employing a healthy lineup until Booker left with an injury in the fourth quarter. The Hornets have won the last two meetings on their home floor by scores of 126-92 and 120-106. Take the home team here. But before you do that, check on the status of such players as Booker and Chandler. If Booker does end up playing, he's the kind of player who can get red-hot and keep Phoenix in it.
