Philly competes despite injuries
Philadelphia is without its top two players due to injury, but the 76ers still competed on the road against the Clippers on Sunday in a 136-130 loss. Philly has covered in five of its last seven games. The 76ers are 37-24 on the season, 9-22 on the road, 26-31-4 against the spread and 30-30-1 with the over/under total.
The 76ers are putting up 109.1 points per game on offense this season while shooting 46.4 percent from the field. Defensively, Philly is allowing 107 points per game while opponents shoot 45.8 percent from the field. Both Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons remain out with their respective injuries. They combined for over 40 points, 19 rebounds and 11 assists per game. Tobias Harris is the active leader with 19.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest.
Lakers bounce back
After a surprising 105-88 loss at Memphis on Saturday, the Lakers bounced back on Sunday night with a 122-114 win at New Orleans against Zion Williamson. The Lakers have still won eight of their last nine games. Los Angeles is now 46-13 on the season, 21-7 at home, 32-26-1 against the spread and 30-29 with the under.
The Lakers are putting up 114.5 points per game on offense this season while shooting a league-best 48.6 percent from the field. Defensively, Los Angeles is giving up 107.1 points per game while holding opponents to 44.6 percent shooting. Anthony Davis is questionable for tonight’s game with a knee injury. Davis didn’t play against the Pelicans on Sunday. He averages 26.4 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per contest. LeBron James is a top MVP candidate this season with 25.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 10.6 assists per game.

Prediction:
Philly grabbed a dominant 108-91 win at home over the Lakers back in January, but both teams have a different roster for this one. LeBron is playing some of his best basketball right now and I expect him to shine on national TV once again, but that is a really big spread for the Lakers to cover. While Philly is missing a lot of key pieces, their current makeup still plays with a lot of pride and effort. The Lakers are playing their third game in four days and I suspect they will look to give LeBron a little added rest if possible and won’t push Davis to go if he’s not close to 100 percent. I just can’t trust them to win by such a wide margin tonight after LeBron gave so much in New Orleans.
NBA Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers +12.5
