Blazers a safe bet to cover in New York?
Over the course of their last 10 games the Trail Blazers have been red-hot for bettors but will they cover as a road favorite versus the Knicks tonight at 7:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Portland is a 5.5-point road favorite at New York for tonight’s game while the total currently sits at 207.5 points. The Blazers opened as a 5-point favorite but the number has been bet up a half point with over 80% of betting tickets currently on Portland to cover.
While the Blazers are 8-2 straight up and 7-3 against the spread over their last 10 games, the Knicks are just 2-8 overall and 3-7 at the betting window of their last 10 contests. Kurt Rambis is worried about Carmelo Anthony’s playing time, especially with the team’s star player continuing to battle soreness in his knee. Kristaps Porzingis is also dealing with soreness in his knee, an issue that caused him to miss practice on Saturday. (Porzingis also struggled in a loss Sunday to Miami, although he says it wasn’t because of the knee.)

On the other side, Damian Lillard continues to be a beast for Portland. He has scored 30 or more points in seven of his last eight games and has been on a tear since the All-Star Break, averaging 33.7 points per contest. With the Blazers perfect against the spread over their last five road games and the Knicks in the midst of a 1-7 ATS funk over their last eight games at home, Portland should have more than enough firepower to cover tonight.
