Nuggets trying to surge again

The Nuggets are coming off a 115-98 win at home over Detroit on Tuesday. Denver has won two straight and six of their last eight games. The Nuggets are now 40-18 on the season, 17-11 on the road, 27-27-4 against the spread and 30-27-1 with the under.

Denver is averaging 110.7 points per game on offense this season while shooting 46.9 percent from the field. Defensively, the Nuggets are allowing just 106.8 points per game while opponents shoot 45.6 percent against them. Nikola Jokic is leading the Nuggets with 20.8 points, 10.0 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game. Jamal Murray is adding 18.9 points and 4.8 assists per contest.

Clips trying to heat up

Los Angeles is coming off a 102-92 win at Phoenix on Wednesday. After a three-game losing streak, the Clippers have bounced back with two straight wins. L.A. is 39-19 on the season, 23-6 at home, 31-27 against the spread and 31-26-1 with the under.

The Clippers are putting up 115.6 points per game this season while shooting 46.2 percent from the floor. Defensively, L.A. is giving up 109.8 points per game while opponents shoot just 43.6 percent against them. Kawhi Leonard is leading the team with 27.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. Paul George is adding 21.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Denver

The Nuggets are just 2-6 against the spread in their last eight Friday games, but 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win.

Los Angeles

The Clippers are just 6-13 against the spread in their last 19 games following a win and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 Friday games.

Prediction:

The Nuggets won the first meeting with the Clippers at home, 114-104, back on Jan. 12. Denver hasn’t quite been the same team on the road. While they have made a nice surge toward the top of the West, I still question their ability to win big games on the road consistently. The Clippers have the better offense and a defense that is quite comparable. The Nuggets don’t bring the same defense on the road and I think they will be overwhelmed by Leonard and George tonight. The Clippers also have the bench depth to maintain their physical defensive style.

NBA Prediction: Los Angeles Clippers -6
