Blazers struggling to cover on no rest
The Blazers visit the Pacers tonight at 6:00PM ET and despite being hot at the betting window, there’s reason to fade Portland.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Pacers are 4.5-point home favorites versus the Blazers while the total currently sits at 210.5 points, down from the opening number 211.5.
Portland is red-hot, winning eight of its last 10 games and covering the spread in seven of those 10 contests. Despite failing to cover in two of their last three games, the Blazers are also coming off a 103-95 thumping of the Bulls as a 4.5-point road favorite on Saturday.
Bettors pretty much split on who to take tonight to cover
But therein lies the problem: Portland has struggled at the betting window this season playing on back-to-back nights. Despite being a solid underdog play, the Blazers are 4-8 against the spread when playing on zero rest and they lost by an average of 5.6 points in those 12 games so laying 4.5 on the Pacers still provides some value for bettors.
Indiana has covered the spread in four of its last five games coming off a loss and the “due theory” is at play tonight with the Pacers, who have failed to cover in three straight games. Look for them to eventually pull away from a tired Blazers squad tonight.
