Spurs in a freefall
San Antonio is in one of its worst stretches of the season, losing six of their last seven after suffering a 130-118 loss at the Knicks last night. The Spurs are also just 1-9 against the spread in their last 10. San Antonio is 33-28 on the season, 11-21 on the road, 32-28-1 against the spread and 38-22-1 with the over.
The Spurs are putting up 112.5 points per game on offense this season while shooting a league-best 40.4 percent from the arc. Defensively, San Antonio is coming off a 111.8 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47 percent from the field. DeMar DeRozan leads the team with 21.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game while LaMarcus Aldridge is adding 20.7 points and 8.9 rebounds per contest.
Nets need some momentum
Brooklyn is coming off a 117-115 win at Charlotte on Saturday for its second win in three games, but the Nets haven’t won back-to-back games in weeks. Brooklyn is now 31-30 on the season, 17-14 at home, 34-27 against the spread and 33-28 with the over.
The Nets are in the middle of the road on offense and defense this season. Brooklyn is averaging 112.2 points per game on offense while shooting 45 percent. Defensively, the Nets are giving up 112.8 points per game while opponents shoot 46.4 percent against them. D’Angelo Russell is leading the team with 20.5 points and 6.7 assists per game while Caris LeVert is adding 16.0 points per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
San Antonio
The Spurs are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven road games and 0-5 ATS in their last five following a loss.
Brooklyn
The Nets are 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games, but 6-1 against the spread in their last seven against Western Conference opponents.
Prediction:
The Spurs are really a mess right now and it’s the defense that is the big problem. They have allowed at least 120 points in six of their last seven and actually gave up 107 to an awful Memphis offense. The Nets are a team that can score, so I can see Brooklyn racking up the points tonight. While Brooklyn isn’t a team to put a lot of trust in right now, I can’t take the Spurs given the way they are playing right now.
NBA Prediction: Brooklyn Nets -2
