Portland Trail Blazers Fantasy Spin
C.J. McCollum scored 21 points during a 113-99 win over the Nets on Thursday, adding six rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 31 minutes. After a torrid stretch to end January and in his first two February games, McCollum had cooled off in his previous three games with no games over 15 points, so the break may have helped him get back on track. His playing time will not be affected by any of the new acquisitions and his 9.4 attempts from deep in his previous February games is noteworthy. McCollum should be able to flirt with early-round value going forward.
Philadelphia 76ers Fantasy Spin
Ben Simmons scored 21 points on 9-of-19 shooting (3-of-7 FTs) with seven rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal in 38 minutes against the Heat on Thursday. With Joel Embiid (knee) out, Simmons was much more active and successful on the block against the Heat's shorter defenders. He was passive in the first half, but got a lot more aggressive in the second half when the Sixers offense stagnated. His offensive game is still a work in progress, but Simmons provides more than enough across the board to be a valuable fantasy asset regardless of his limitations.
