Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Hawks are 2.5-point favorites to beat the Suns. The total, meanwhile, sits at 232.5 points and as of this writing, 74% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Hawks to cover the point spread.
Phoenix Suns Fantasy Spin
Devin Booker scored a game-high 30 points during a 111-98 loss to the Cavs on Thursday, adding one rebound, seven assists, one steal, three 3-pointers and matching his career-high nine turnovers. The Suns scoring just 98 points against a team with a league-worst 116.3 defensive rating could make this the worst loss of the season. It also sets a franchise record with 16 straight losses, which breaks a record they set last year en route to the league’s worst record. With the new lottery format, the Suns have a four-game cushion on it affecting their percentage to win the lottery, so this might actually be good news for Booker’s fantasy value.
Atlanta Hawks Fantasy Spin
Trae Young was hot early during a 125-122 loss to the Pistons on Friday, finishing with 30 points, two rebounds, 10 assists and five 3-pointers in 37 minutes. He had 20 points and six dimes at half, including a red-hot second quarter with 15 points. Young’s minutes are way up when the Hawks are playing well, and coach Lloyd Pierce said that the team doesn’t have a cap on his playing time following a 38-minute game on Feb. 12. Young will have some shooting slumps, but he’s been a 20.6-point, 9.4-dime player this month as one of the best young players in the counting stats. He looks poised for a huge finish.
NBA Betting Trends
Phoenix
The Suns are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall and are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games playing on only one day of rest.
Atlanta
The Hawks are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight home games.
Prediction
It’s tempting to lay the points with the Hawks against a horrendous Suns team but something is fishy about the line. Thus, I will be playing the total. The under is a perfect 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two teams in Atlanta and is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams overall. The under is also 4-1 in the Suns’ last five games and cashed in 37 of the Hawks’ last 52 games when facing an opponent with a winning percentage below .400.
Saturday NBA Prediction: Suns/Hawks under 232.5
