Celtics vs. Pistons Pick
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Celtics are a 2-point favorite on the spread line. The total is set at 208.5 points. Boston opened as a 1-point fave, while the over-under has jumped from 204.5 points.
As of Friday afternoon, 80 percent of public bets have come in on the visiting Celtics. Online wager info also shows that 64 percent of bets are being placed on the over.
The two meetings this season have been split, with each team winning on the road and covering the spread. Detroit won 118-108 at Boston on Nov. 27, while the Celtics returned the favor on Dec. 10 with a 91-81 victory at Detroit. The last 10 meetings have gone an even 5-5 ATS, while the under has gone 6-4.
Boston three three in a row and four of its last five heading into the All-Star break. Even so, the Celtics are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 contests. The over-under has gone 5-5. The Pistons snapped a three-game losing streak with a 104-98 home victory over the Hawks in their final game before the All-Star break. Detroit has failed to cover the spread in its last five games and are 2-8 ATS in the last 10 contests. The over has gone 6-4.
I'm taking the Pistons as a home underdog here. Sure, their play was overwhelming the last week before the break but so was Boston's. Detroit already showed it can compete with the Celtics at Boston and now it has added Blake Griffin to the mix. Look for Detroit to take the lead in the season series with an impressive win tonight.
