Rockets, Jazz playing over the total of late
Will tonight’s clash between the Rockets and Jazz net a win for over bettors when the two teams meet at 9:00PM ET?
The over/under for tonight’s game is currently sitting at 203.5, up from the opening number of 202. And according to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Jazz are now 5-point favorites versus the Rockets after Utah opened as a 4.5-point fave.
Houston has played .500 ball at the betting window over its last 10 games and is 4-6 straight up during that stretch. Utah, meanwhile, is a healthy 7-3 over its last 10 games but is just 5-5 against the spread as well over that same span.
Seeing as how the Jazz are 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 home games while the Rockets are just 2-6 ATS in their last eight contests coming off a win, there’s some value in laying the points on Utah. But in our eyes, not as much value as what the total provides.
The over has cashed in nine of the Rockets’ last 10 road games and is 15-3 in their last 18 games versus Western Conference opponents. The over has also hit in four of Utah’s last five games overall and is 7-3-1 in the team’s last 11 games coming off a loss.
While the Jazz ranks 14th in the NBA in defensive efficiency, the Rockets are in the bottom half of the league and tied with Sacramento for 24th. But Houston can score, as evidence by their 104.2 offensive ranking, which ranks 8th. Utah is also listed in the top half at 12, so points shouldn’t be an issue tonight.
