Knicks drop 18th straight
The New York Knicks suffered their 18th straight loss last night with a 126-111 defeat at the hands of the 76ers. Along with the losses, New York is just 1-7 against the spread in its last eight games. New York is 10-47 on the season, 6-23 on the road, 23-33-1 against the spread and 29-28 with the under.
The Knicks are putting up just 105.3 points per game on offense while shooting a league-worst 43 percent as a team. Defensively, New York is giving up 114.4 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.2 percent. Emmanuel Mudiay is listed as questionable to return tonight from his shoulder injury, but the Knicks aren’t likely to push it with the break coming up. Dennis Smith Jr. is averaging 16.7 points and 5.8 assists per game in his six contests with the team while Kevin Knox is adding 12.5 points per game.
Hawks end skid
Atlanta put an end to a 3-game losing streak on Tuesday, picking up a 117-113 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at home. The win also snapped a 3-game failed cover streak. Atlanta is now 19-38 on the season, 9-16 at home, 25-32 against the spread and 32-25 with the over.
The Hawks are the league’s worst defense, giving up 118.4 points per game. Offensively, Atlanta is putting up 111 points per game while shooting 45.4 percent. John Collins has been leading the team with 19.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game while rookie Trae Young is adding 16.9 points and 7.6 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
New York
The Knicks are 1-5 against the spread in their last six conference games and 0-6 ATS in their last six road games against a team with a losing home record.
Atlanta
The Hawks are just 3-10 against the spread in their last 13 division games and 1-5 ATS in their last six at home.
Prediction:
The Hawks aren’t a team you love as an 8.5-point favorite, but the Knicks just have nothing appealing about them. New York doesn’t have much of a roster in terms of depth or scoring talent and the Knicks clearly don’t want to win many games in hopes of getting the top draft pick this summer. The Hawks can’t play defense, but they can score. New York can’t say that. The Knicks are barely putting up 100 per game over their last five and I think they will have a lot of trouble keeping pace with Atlanta on the road.
NBA Prediction: Atlanta Hawks -8.5
