Memphis Grizzlies Fantasy Spin
Ja Morant scored 12 points on 5-of-9 from the field and 2-of-2 from the line with seven assists, four rebounds and six turnovers in 27 minutes vs. Detroit on Monday. The Grizzlies are a problem in the West, winning 12 of their last 16 games with Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. getting better by the day. Morant has been red hot, shooting at least 53% in four straight games and posting averages of 16.4 points, 8.2 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.5 triples over the last month. Sure we’d like to see more triples and less turnovers, but Morant has early-round upside for the final 2.5 months of the season with the Grizzlies making a strong push for a playoff spot.
Washington Wizards Fantasy Spin
Bradley Beal went bonkers for 43 points in a 125-117 loss to the Warriors on Monday, hitting 15-of-30 shots and 10-of-10 free throws with six assists, two rebounds, two steals and three triples in 39 minutes. So yeah, he’s pretty agitated about not making the All-Star game and deservedly so. Over his last seven games, Beal has been unconscious with 38.9 points per game on 53% shooting and 39% from deep. He’s hotter than any player not named Damian Lillard right now, but it’s a shame that this season has gone to waste with the Wizards sitting at 17-32. With the trade deadline coming on Thursday, it’s important to note that Beal is not eligible to be moved until after the season because of the extension he signed.
NBA Prediction
The over is 5-0 in the Grizzlies’ last five road games, is 4-1 in their last five games overall and is 6-2 in their last eight games when listed as a favorite. The over has been even better on the other side of this matchup. In the Wizards’ last eight games, the over is 7-1. In their last seven games when they’re listed as an underdog, the over is 6-1. The over is also 7-1 in the Wizards’ last eight games after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game and is 7-1 in their last eight games after scoring 100 points or more in their previous contest.
