Raptors vs. Nets Pick
Will the Toronto Raptors be able to go on the road and handle the Brooklyn Nets when the two meet up today at Noon ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Raptors are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Nets. The over/under total for the contest has yet to be set. Toronto has won seven straight in this series, including three wins already this season. They have covered the spread in the last two wins as well.
Despite being one of the best in the East, Toronto is struggling lately, losing two straight and eight of their last 10 to fall to 30-21 on the season and 29-21-1 against the spread. The Raptors are averaging 109.2 points per game on offense this season while giving up 104.7 on defense. On the road, Toronto averages 105.7 on offense while giving up 105.8. Toronto is coming in banged up as Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan are both questionable to play. Lowry is battling an illness while DeRozan has missed the last three games with swelling in his right knee. The two combine for 50 points and 10 rebounds per game. Patrick Patterson, who averages 7 points per game off the bench, is also questionable to play with a knee injury.
The Nets are also a mess, losing eight straight while failing to cover in their last four. Brooklyn is now 9-41 overall and 21-26-3 against the spread. The Nets have one of the worst defensive teams in the league, allowing 114.4 per game. On offense, Brooklyn scores 105.3 per game. At home, their offense actually dips to 103.1 per game. Brook Lopez is averaging 20.4 points per game to lead the team while Bojan Bogdanovic is adding 14.1 points per game.
The Raptors should normally be able to take care of business here, but the injuries are piling up. Even if Lowry is able to go, he won’t have much help. The Nets are a mess, but they are at least at home and come in with a healthy roster for the most part. I will take a chance on the Nets with the points.
