Pacers struggling without Oladipo
The Indiana Pacers have lost four straight since the injury to Victor Oladipo. They are coming off a 107-100 loss at Orlando on Thursday and the Pacers have failed to cover in five straight. Indiana is now 32-19 overall, 14-12 on the road, 25-26 against the spread and 28-23 with the under.
Indiana has been one of the stronger defensive teams in the league this season, allowing an average of 103.9 points per contest. Offensively, Indiana is putting up just 108.1 per game despite shooting 47.6 percent from the field. Oladipo has been lost for the season with a quad injury and Tyreke Evans and Cory Joseph are both questionable to play tonight due to injuries. Bojan Bogdanovic is the current team leader with 16.1 points per game while Domantas Sabonis is adding 14.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest.
Heat struggling at home
Miami has dropped three straight at home to the Clippers, Bulls and Thunder. Last night, they fell to the Thunder 118-102. Miami is now 24-26 on the season, 11-15 at home, 26-24 against the spread and 25-25 with the over/under total.
Like Indiana, Miami has been a pretty strong defensive team this season. The Heat are giving up just 105.8 points per game while holding opponents to 44.4 percent shooting. On offense, Miami is putting up only 105.3 points per game and shooting just 44.3 percent as a team. Josh Richardson has been leading the team with 17.4 points per game while Hassan Whiteside is adding 12.5 points and 12.4 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Indiana
The Pacers are just 1-7 against the spread in their last eight road games and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 conference games.
Miami
The Heat have covered the spread in four straight Saturday games, but are just 2-6 ATS in their last eight at home.
Prediction:
The loss of Oladipo has really hurt Indiana. The offense is averaging less than 100 points per game since he left and with the added injuries to Evans and Joseph, I would expect those struggles to continue tonight. Miami has been hard to peg, but the Heat still have the potential for good things as they are built on depth and not a single player. I think the Heat will have their defense shine tonight while managing to score enough to cover.
NBA Prediction: Miami Heat -2.5
