According to oddsmakers at, the Timberwolves are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -5 points against the Grizzlies. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 209 points. Grizzlies cover in two straight

Despite really struggling over the last month, Memphis has managed to cover the spread in two straight games following a 95-92 loss at home to Denver on Monday. Memphis is 20-31 on the season, 8-17 on the road, 21-30 against the spread and 31-20 with the under.

Memphis has been a strong defensive team, but an awful offensive one. The Grizzlies are allowing just 103.9 points per game this season, which is the second-fewest in the NBA. Offensively, Memphis scores only 100.6 per game, which is last in the NBA. Mike Conley is leading the team with 20.1 points and 6.3 assists per game while Marc Gasol is adding 15.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest.

T’Wolves struggle with Utah

Minnesota is coming off a home-and-home loss to Utah over the last week, losing by four at Utah, but by 14 at home. The Timberwolves are now 24-26 on the season, 16-9 at home, 26-24 against the spread and 26-24 with the over.

The Timberwolves are putting up 111.7 points per game this season while the defense is giving up 111.6 points per contest. They really struggle to defend the perimeter, as opponents shoot 36.8 percent against them. Jeff Teague is out tonight with a foot injury while Derrick Rose is questionable. Karl-Anthony Towns has been leading the team with 22.8 points and 12.2 rebounds per game while Rose is averaging 18.6 points per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

The Grizzlies are just 3-10 against the spread in their last 13 conference games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games.

The Timberwolves are 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games playing on two days of rest.

The trends aren’t great for either team, but the Grizzlies clearly aren’t in a winning mode. They held a big lead over Denver early, only to hand it away to the Nuggets in the later stages of the contest. Minnesota is a pretty good offensive team at home and they have a winning record against the spread at home. I think they can easily run past this poor Memphis squad tonight. The Grizzlies don’t have the offense or bodies to contend with the T’Wolves, even without Rose.

NBA Prediction: Minnesota Timberwolves -5
