76ers road trip starts poorly
The 76ers began a West Coast road trip on Saturday and suffered a 126-110 loss at Denver. The 76ers have failed to cover in three of their last four games. Philly is 32-18 on the season, 11-13 on the road, 23-27 against the spread and 29-21 with the over.
Philly has been one of the stronger offensive teams in the NBA, averaging 115.6 points per game this season while shooting 47.3 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from the arc. Defensively, the 76ers are giving up 112.2 points per game while holding opponents to 45.1 percent shooting. The team should be getting Jimmy Butler back tonight. He has missed the last three games with a wrist injury. He averages 19 points per game for the 76ers this season. Joel Embiid is leading the team with 27.2 points and 13.3 rebounds per contest.
Lakers end losing streak
Los Angeles is coming off a 116-102 win over Phoenix at home on Sunday to snap a three-game losing streak. The Lakers are now 26-24 on the season, 16-11 at home, 21-27-2 against the spread and 31-18-1 with the under.
The Lakers are putting up 112.3 points per game on offense this season while shooting 47.4 percent from the field. Defensively, the Lakers are giving up 111.7 points per contest while holding opponents to 44.2 percent shooting. LeBron James and Lonzo Ball both continue to be out with their injuries while Josh Hart is doubtful and Kyle Kuzma is questionable due to a hip injury. Kuzma is the active leader right now with 19.1 points per game while Brandon Ingram is adding 16.6 points per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The 76ers are 21-8 against the spread in their last 29 against Pacific division opponents and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games following a loss.
Los Angeles
The Lakers are 5-15-1 against the spread in their last 21 against Eastern Conference opponents and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five at home.
Prediction:
Philly has been a tough team to trust on the road. They were manhandled by Denver on Saturday, but won by 24 at Indiana last week. They are just 9-15 against the spread on the road this season. Being out West should provide some struggles as well. Los Angeles certainly hasn’t looked great without LeBron, but the Lakers still have some talent to work with and are still playing for a playoff spot. I am going to take my chances on the home team getting the points. Keep an eye on the Kuzma situation. If he doesn’t play, that certainly hurts the Lakers chances and I would consider leaning toward Philly.
NBA Prediction: Los Angeles Lakers +7
