Magic sliding
Orlando is on a three-game losing streak following a 112-97 loss to the Clippers at home on Sunday. The Magic are just 1-5 in their last six, scoring under 100 in four of the five losses. Orlando is 21-26 on the season, 8-15 on the road, 21-24-2 against the spread and 26-19-2 with the under.
The Magic have the league’s best defense, allowing just 104.5 points per game while holding opponents to 45.4 percent shooting. Offensively, Orlando ranks 29th in the NBA. The Magic average 103.7 points per game while shooting just 43.2 percent from the floor. Nikola Vucevic is leading the team with 18.8 points and 11.0 rebounds per game while Evan Fournier is putting up 19 points per contest.
Heat suffer rare home loss
Miami is coming off a 122-117 loss at home to the Clippers on Friday, which was just the second loss at home for the Heat this season. Miami is now 31-14 overall, 20-2 at home, 25-18-2 against the spread and 28-16-1 with the over.
The Heat are giving up 108.7 points per game on defense this season while holding opponents to 44.5 percent shooting from the field and 32.9 percent from the arc. Offensively, Miami is putting up 112.2 points per game while shooting 47.2 percent from the floor and 37.7 percent from the arc. The Heat have some big injury concerns today as Jimmy Butler, Kendrick Nunn and Goran Dragic are all questionable with injuries. Those three combine for over 50 points. Butler is leading the team with 20.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. Bam Adebayo is adding 15.9 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Orlando
The Magic are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six Monday games.
Miami
The Heat are 16-6-1 against the spread in their last 23 home games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games playing on two days rest.
Prediction:
Nunn and Dragic were unable to play on Friday, but the Heat were still able to put up 117 points on a good Clippers team. If Butler is unable to go, that certainly will make an impact, but I still feel good about the Heat. Miami has been very tough at home and their offense should find ways to score. Orlando doesn’t have the scoring to be able to compete with Miami consistently. The Heat struggled in Orlando weeks ago, but I think things will be differently at home. The Magic are in a real offensive funk right now and their lack of scoring will be a problem tonight.
NBA Prediction: Miami Heat -4.5
