Houston Rockets Fantasy Spin
James Harden continued his historic run during a 138-134 overtime victory over the Lakers on Saturday, scoring 48 points with eight rebounds, six assists, four steals, one block, six turnovers and eight 3-pointers. For the third game in a row, he was unassisted on all of his points to make it a ridiculous 163 points in the last three without any of those points coming off an assist. Plus, none of his 30 shots came directly off a pass, finishing today shooting 14-of-30 from the field and 12-of-15 from the line. Harden also had 19 attempts from three to make it at least 19 in three games in the last month after hitting that number just once in his career prior to this stretch. The Rockets took 68 treys in this one to put them two short of their record 70 on Wednesday -- the old record was 61. He has scored 30-plus points in 19 straight with Wilt Chamberlain the only player ever with more. Harden is creating some space to win his second consecutive MVP award.
Philadelphia 76ers Fantasy Spin
Joel Embiid's back didn't seem to bother him as much during a 117-115 loss to the Thunder on Saturday, scoring 31 points with eight rebounds, six assists, one block and one 3-pointer in 34 minutes. He was a true game-time call and wasn't announced as a starter until minutes before this one started. Compared to Thursday, Embiid didn't seem to be stretching as much during the game, he wasn't seeing quite as much treatment from the med staff, and overall he didn't look limited as much either. Embiid fell on Russell Westbrook in the fourth quarter, and it didn't seem to cause any discomfort. This was an encouraging outing for Embiid regarding his health, so maybe he won't be on the injury report for MLK Day against the Rockets.
