Golden State Warriors Fantasy Spin
Stephen Curry went berserk in the third quarter during a 147-140 win over the Pelicans on Wednesday, finishing with 41 points, five rebounds, three assists, one steal and nine 3-pointers in 35 minutes. He hit seven treys in the third quarter in a comeback victory, and it was his NBA-best 23rd quarter with at least 20 points over the last five years. The Warriors and Pelicans set an NBA record for 3-pointers made, and the Warriors are the first team to score at least 140 in consecutive games since Phoenix in 2009. Curry is off to a ridiculous start in 2019, averaging 34.1 points, 5.3 boards, 6.0 dimes, 0.7 steals, 0.3 blocks and an absurd 7.3 treys over those seven. Steph is playing his best ball of the season and the Dubs get DeMarcus Cousins on Friday night.
Los Angeles Lakers Fantasy Spin
Lonzo Ball will miss 4-6 weeks with a Grade-3 left ankle sprain. An MRI confirmed the damage and this is a brutal turn of events for Ball and the Lakers, who are currently tied for No. 8 in the West. The good news is that his ankle should be fine after immobilization, rest and rehab, and it’s possible he could play soon after the All-Star break. Rajon Rondo (hand) is due back soon and his role becomes even more important, while guys like Lance Stephenson and Josh Hart will also be tasked with more play-making duties for the second unit. Given his uneven contributions in most fantasy leagues, it makes sense to cut Lonzo in re-draft leagues without an IR spot.
