Pelicans covering

New Orleans is coming off a 133-130 loss at home to the Clippers on Saturday, but they managed to cover the spread for the seventh time in eight games. The Pelicans are 16-27 on the season, 8-14 on the road, 21-20-2 against the spread and 25-18 with the over.

The Pelicans are putting up 114.2 points per game on offense this season wile shooting 45.3 percent from the field. Defensively, New Orleans is giving up 117.7 points per game while opponents shoot 46.8 percent against them. This will be the final game for the Pelicans without Zion Williamson in the lineup. He is set to make his debut on Wednesday. Jrue Holiday is out with an elbow injury while Derek Favors is questionable to play tonight due to a back injury. Brandon Ingram is leading the team with 25.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest. JJ Redick is adding 15.8 points per contest.

Grizzlies on a tear

Memphis is riding a seven-game win streak right now following a 113-109 win at home over Cleveland on Friday. The Grizzlies are 6-1 against the spread during this win streak. Memphis is 20-22 on the season, 12-12 at home, 22-19-1 against the spread and 22-20 with the over.

The Grizzlies are putting up 113.5 points per game on offense this season while shooting 47.1 percent from the field. Defensively, Memphis is allowing 115.8 points per game while opponents shoot 46.2 percent from the floor. Ja Morant is leading the team with 17.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game. Jaren Jackson Jr. is adding 17.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

New Orleans

The Pelicans have covered the spread in six straight games when playing on 1 day of rest and in five straight following a loss.

The Grizzlies are 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record.

The Grizzlies are really playing well right now. They have found their stride offensively and I think that will continue against New Orleans tonight. The Pelicans aren’t known for defense, so it should open the door for Memphis to continue to put up points. The Pelicans have also been scoring, but I don’t see them being able to keep pace on the road with Memphis given some of their key pieces being missing. With Memphis hot and at home, I will take the Grizzlies.

NBA Prediction: Memphis Grizzlies -2
