Mavericks vs. Heat Prediction
Will the Mavericks pull off the small upset tonight when they visit the Heat at 7:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Miami opened as a 1.5-point home favorite over Dallas but the number climbed to 2, while the total opened at 189.5 before jumping all the way up to 197.
The Mavericks have split over their last 10 games and are 6-4 against the spread during that span. They've won three straight games, which included wins at the Suns, home against the Timberwolves, and most recently, at Chicago as a 4.5-point underdog. Wesley Matthews hit the game-winning 3-pointer with just under 12 seconds remaining in that 99-89 win over the Bulls, while also playing excellent defense on Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade throughout the game.
As for the Heat, they have now lost eight of their last 10 games and are just 4-6 at the betting window over their last 10 contests. They did snap a four-game losing streak with a 109-103 upset of the red-hot Rockets, however, covering as a 7-point home underdog. Goran Dragic hit an 8-of-15 shots and a 3-pointer for 21 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, a steal and six turnovers in the victory.
OUR PREDICTION: The road team is 21-5-2 against the spread in the last 28 meetings between these two teams while the Mavericks are 16-5-1 at the betting window in their last 22 games in Miami. The Mavs have also covered four of their last five road games and are a perfect 5-0 against the number in their last five games when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game. The Heat, meanwhile, are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six games playing on one day of rest.
