Why there’s value in the Nets on Friday
When handicappers scroll through the action on Friday night in the NBA, the Blazers-Nets game probably won’t stand out. But there’s action some value in taking Brooklyn and here’s why.
The Nets stink. They’re 11-28 on the year, they won the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference and they’ve lost seven of their last 10 games. But there is one scenario in which they’ve thrived at the betting window and they find themselves in that role tonight against Portland at 7:30PM ET.
Brooklyn is coming off a 110-104 victory over the Knicks as a 3.5-point underdog on Wednesday night. Off wins this season, the Nets are 8-2 against the spread with covers coming against the Kings (+6.5), Hornets (+6.5), Thunder (+12), 76ers (-7), Suns (+3.5), Knicks (+3.5), Mavericks (+3.5) and Magic (+7.5).
As you can see, the Nets were underdogs in the majority of the games following victories and that’s what they’ll be tonight. According to oddsmamkers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Brooklyn is +4 at home tonight against Portland.
With 80% of public bettors taking the Blazers to cover the spread, the line could climb even higher before tonight’s tip-off, providing even more value on the Nets if you’re willing to roll the dice.
