Heat profitable for bettors off losses
Even though the Heat have lost three straight games they’ve still be a strong play to cover the spread coming off a loss this season.
Miami’s losing streak started with a 98-83 defeat in Utah last Saturday as a 1-point road favorite. The Heat then fell 111-103 to the Warriors but covered as a 14-point road underdog, then lost to the Clippers 104-90 as a 3-point dog on Wednesday night.
Including their cover at Golden State, the Heat are 10-5-1 against the spread coming off a loss this season. In those 16 games combined, they’ve actually won by an average margin of 4.1 and have covered the spread at a +3.4 clip. Only the Warriors (3-0 ATS), Spurs (6-0 ATS) and Wizards (13-6 ATS) have been a better bet coming off losses this season.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Miami is currently 2.5-point road favorites on Friday night in Denver. The line opened at Nuggets +2, but was immediately bet up a half point in favor of the Heat. As of now, 77% of wager tickets have been placed on Miami to cover the 2.5-point spread.
