Hornets struggling on road trip
Charlotte is on a three-game losing streak right now following a 104-97 loss at Sacramento on Saturday. The Hornets are 1-4 overall and against the spread in this current five-game road trip. Charlotte is now 19-23 overall, 5-15 on the road, 20-22 against the spread and 23-18-1 with the over.
The Hornets are struggling on defense this season, allowing 112.3 points per game while opponents shoot 46.5 percent against them. Offensively, the Hornets are putting up 112.1 points per game while shooting 35.8 percent from the arc. Kemba Walker is leading the team with 25.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game. Jeremy Lamb is adding 15.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
Spurs rolling at home
While the Spurs have lost two of their last three, both were on the road. The Spurs have won and covered the spread in seven straight home games. San Antonio is now 25-19 on the season, 18-5 at home, 26-17-1 against the spread and 25-18-1 with the over.
San Antonio is putting up 112.3 points per game on offense this season thanks to a league-best 40.3 percent shooting from the arc. Defensively, the Spurs are giving up 109.5 points per game. The team is without Rudy Gay indefinitely due to a wrist injury. DeMar DeRozan is leading the team with 22.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists per contest. LaMarcus Aldridge is adding 20.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Charlotte
The Hornets are 1-7 against the spread in their last eight road games and 0-7 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record.
San Antonio
The Spurs are 6-0-1 against the spread in their last seven games following a loss and 5-0 ATS in their last five against Eastern Conference opponents.
Prediction:
The Hornets are too much of a one-dimensional team to compete at San Antonio tonight. Walker could have a hell of a game, but I don’t think it will be enough. The Spurs have been improving throughout the season and the team has been tremendous at home. Along with the impressive straight up record, the Spurs are 17-6 against the spread on their home floor. Charlotte is just 8-12 ATS on the road and I think they will drop another one today.
