Thunder end win streak
Oklahoma City is coming off a 120-113 loss at Philadelphia last night to end a five-game win streak. The Thunder still managed a sixth straight cover in the loss. OKC is 20-16 on the season, 8-10 on the road, 24-12 against the spread and 20-16 with the under.
The Thunder are led by their defense, which is allowing 107.5 points per game while holding opponents to 45.5 percent shooting. Offensively, OKC is putting up 108.8 points per game while shooting 46.6 percent from the field. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is leading the team with 19.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Dennis Schroder is adding 18.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest.
Nets continue slide
Brooklyn dropped a sixth straight game last night in a 101-89 loss at Orlando. The Nets haven’t covered the spread in any of the losses, as all but one has been by double figures. Brooklyn is 16-19 on the season, 9-7 at home, 16-19 against the spread and 18-16-1 with the under.
The Nets are struggling on defense, allowing 111.7 points per game while opponents shoot 43.4 percent. Offensively, Brooklyn is putting up 109.7 points per game while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor. Already without Kyrie Irving indefinitely due to a shoulder injury, the Nets rested Caris LeVert last night, but he should play tonight. He is averaging 16.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game right now for the Nets. Spencer Dinwiddie is leading the team with 22.7 points and 6.2 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Oklahoma City
The Thunder have covered the spread in five straight road games and in six straight on no rest.
Brooklyn
The Nets are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 home games, but 0-4 ATS in their last four games as an underdog.
Prediction:
This is the first meeting this season between these two. I like the way the Thunder have been playing. They aren’t the most-talented roster, but they play with a lot of effort and grit. The Nets haven’t really had a healthy roster, but they also don’t seem to have the same fire you see out of OKC. The Thunder have finally found their stride over the last month and its showing in their play. I think they can win and cover in this one, using their defense to tire the already short-handed Nets, while their offense takes advantage of a Brooklyn defense that often takes possessions off.
NBA Prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder -2.5
