Nets continue slide
Brooklyn is coming off a 121-102 loss at home to Toronto for a fifth consecutive loss. The Nets haven’t been able to cover in any of the five defeats, either. The Nets are 16-18 on the season, 7-11 on the road, 16-18 against the spread and 17-16-1 with the under.
The Nets have struggled on both sides of the floor. Their offense is putting up 110.4 points per game while shooting 44.2 percent from the field. Defensively, the Nets are giving up 112 points per game while opponents shoot 43.4 percent against them. Brooklyn just got Caris LeVert back from injury, but he is expected to be rested tonight. Spencer Dinwiddie is the current team leader with 22.9 points and 6.3 assists per game, while Joe Harris is adding 14.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest.
Magic fall at home
Orlando hasn’t been able to sustain a long win streak in some time. The Magic had a two-game win streak snapped on Saturday in a 109-96 loss at home to the Jazz. Orlando is 16-20 on the season, 11-8 at home, 15-19-2 against the spread and 19-16-1 with the under.
The Magic are one of the top defenses in the league and the worst offense in the NBA. Orlando averages just 103.3 points per game on offense while shooting only 43.2 percent as a team. However, the defense gives up just 104.2 points per game while limiting opponents to 45.2 percent shooting. Nikola Vucevic is leading the team with 18.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Evan Fournier is adding 19.0 points per game for the Magic.
NBA Betting Trends
Brooklyn
The Nets have failed to cover in five straight overall and in four of their last five as an underdog.
Orlando
The Magic are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games as a favorite and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a losing team.
Prediction:
The Nets haven’t been very competitive as of late and I think they will find themselves overwhelmed by the Orlando defense tonight. Brooklyn doesn’t have much in terms of offensive weapons right now and Orlando isn’t a team you can really take advantage of on their home floor. The Magic just need to find a little more offense than usual tonight and I think they can do that. I expect the Magic to hold the Nets under 100 while working their way to about 105-110 range. The Nets won’t have much defense to offer and their offense isn’t going to get them out of the hole.
NBA Prediction: Orlando Magic -5
