Jazz flip flopping
The Utah Jazz have alternated wins and losses over their last seven games and they are coming off an impressive 117-91 win at Cleveland on Friday night. Utah is 19-20 on the season, 11-11 on the road, 19-19-1 against the spread and 19-19-1 with the over/under total.
Utah has one of the best defenses in the NBA, allowing just 105.7 points per game while allowing the second-fewest rebounds in the league (42.4 per game). Offensively, Utah posts just 107.9 points per game while shooting only 34.5 percent from the arc. Donovan Mitchell leads Utah with 20 points per game while Rudy Gobert adds 15 points and 12.3 rebounds per contest.
Pistons seeking win streak
It’s been some time since Detroit won back-to-back games, but they are coming off a nice 101-94 win at Memphis on Wednesday. The Pistons are 17-19 on the season, 11-8 at home, 17-18-1 against the spread and 19-17 with the under.
The Pistons are led by their defense, despite giving up 109.4 points per game. They have the best 3-point shooting defense, allowing opponents to make just 31.7 percent of their attempts. Offensively, Detroit is averaging 107.2 points per game despite shooting just 43.2 percent as a team and 32.8 percent from the arc. Blake Griffin is leading Detroit with 24.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while Andre Drummond adds 17.1 points and 14.9 rebounds per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Utah
The Jazz are 2-5-1 against the spread in their last eight road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win.
Detroit
The Pistons have covered the spread in four straight when playing on two days of rest and they are 11-3 against the spread in their last 14 against Western Conference opponents.
Prediction:
The Pistons wrapped up a four-game road trip with a win and now they return home where they have been a winning team. Despite a poor history against the Jazz, I think Detroit matches up well tonight. Utah isn’t a high-powered offense, which is what Detroit struggles with as the Pistons can’t shoot very well. This game should be more about defense and frontcourt play, which is a strength of Detroit. I will take the Pistons at home with some points against an inconsistent Utah team.
NBA Prediction: Detroit Pistons +2.5
