Raptors trying to overcome injuries
Toronto is just 2-4 in its last six games as the Raptors have been without some key pieces of the roster. They are coming off an 84-76 loss at Miami on Thursday. The Raptors are 23-12 on the season, 9-7 on the road, 20-15 against the spread and 18-16-1 with the under.
The Raptors have been solid on defense all season, allowing just 105.3 points per game while holding opponents to 42.2 percent shooting. Offensively, Toronto is putting up 110.5 points per game while shooting 44.8 percent as a team. The Raptors continue to be without top contributors Pascal Siakam, Norman Powell and Marc Gasol due to injuries. Siakam leads the team with 25.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Kyle Lowry is the active leader with 20.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.5 assists per contest.
Nets on a skid
Brooklyn has dropped four straight following a 123-111 loss at Dallas on Thursday night. The Nets haven’t managed to cover in any of the four games. Brooklyn is now 16-17 on the season, 9-6 at home, 16-17 against the spread and 17-15-1 with the under.
The Nets are right around the middle of the road on both offense and defense. The offense is putting up 110.6 points per game while shooting 44.1 percent. Defensively, Brooklyn is giving up 111.7 points per game while opponents are held to 43.3 percent shooting. The Nets recently got Caris LeVert back into the lineup. He is averaging 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game this year. Spencer Dinwiddie is the team’s active leader with 22.8 points and 6.3 assists per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Toronto
The Raptors are 20-6 against the spread in their last 26 games on 1 day of rest and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games against a team with a winning home record.
Brooklyn
The Nets are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine home games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a failed cover.
Prediction:
The Nets haven’t looked good as of late, but they have been on the road a great deal in recent weeks. They are still getting into a flow with LeVert back into the lineup. I think they can buck this losing trend today against a Toronto team that is very short-handed and struggling to put up offense consistently. They were held to 76 at Miami and just 97 at home against Oklahoma City. The Nets may not hold Toronto done quite that much, but they certainly can score at a more consistent clip. The Nets know they can’t keep falling. If they get too far behind, they may not be able to recover.
NBA Prediction: Brooklyn Nets -1
