Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Lakers are 7.5-point favorites to beat the Knicks. The total, meanwhile, sits at 224 points and as of this writing, 56% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Lakers to cover the point spread.
New York Knicks Fantasy Spin
Mitchell Robinson (left ankle) is a game-time decision for Friday's matchup with the Lakers. Mitch Rob has been sidelined since injuring his ankle back on December 14th. Once he returns, the Knicks will have three centers competing for minutes. Asked about juggling Luke Kornet, Enes Kanter and Robinson, coach David Fizdale said: "Don’t know. I want to mess around with this lineup more and watch them. Luke is in really good groove shooting the ball. Got to figure out how I’m going to juggle all three."
Los Angeles Lakers Fantasy Spin
LeBron James (left groin) will be re-evaluated in one week and will not travel on the Lakers' upcoming road trip. LeBron and the team downplayed the injury initially, but James has already missed four games and will miss at least four more. The earliest LeBron will be able to return is for next Friday's matchup vs. the Jazz, and that's assuming he is cleared to play immediately after his next re-evaluation. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram will all continue to see an uptick in minutes and scoring opportunities with LeBron out of action.
NBA Betting Trends
The over is 12-4 in the Knicks’ last 16 road games and is 14-5 in their last 19 games coming off a loss.
The under is 6-2 in the Lakers’ last eight games overall and is 10-4 in their last 14 games playing on one day of rest.
The Knicks have been a horrible team to back at the betting window. On the other side, the Lakers are 6-2 against the number in their last eight games coming off a loss and are 4-1 at the betting window in their last five games following an ATS loss.
