Blazers in big skid
Portland is coming off a 117-93 loss at New York to the Knicks on Wednesday. The Blazers have lost five straight, failing to cover in all five. Portland is 14-21 on the season, 6-12 on the road, 13-20-2 against the spread and 18-17 with the over.
The Blazers are a solid offense, putting up 112 points per game while shooting 45.1 percent from the field. Defensively, the Blazers are giving up 114.1 points per game while opponents shoot 44.5 percent from the floor. Portland is led by Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. The two combine for nearly 50 points, nine rebounds and 11 assists per game.
Wizards struggling through injuries
Washington is coming off a 122-101 loss at home to Orlando for its third loss in four games. The Wizards are 10-23 on the season, 5-9 at home, 16-16-1 against the spread and 20-12-1 with the over.
The Wizards are the league’s worst defensive team this season, giving up 121 points per game while opponents shoot 49.1 percent from the floor. Offensively, Washington is averaging 116.2 points per game while shooting 46 percent as a team. The Wizards are dealing with a lot of injuries. Davis Bertans, Thomas Bryant, Rui Hachimura and Moritz Wagner are all out due to injuries while Bradley Beal is questionable with a leg injury. He is averaging 27.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.6 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Portland
The Blazers are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games as a road favorite and are 0-5-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Washington
The Wizards are 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record.
Prediction:
The Blazers have not played well as of late, including an awful showing against the Knicks on Wednesday. Their shooting hasn’t been on point in recent games, but I think that will be different tonight against a Washington team that doesn’t defend. The Wizards are too banged-up to have the offense to make up for their defensive woes. I think Lillard and McCollum will take over this game and lead the Blazers out of their funk.
NBA Prediction: Portland Trail Blazers -6
