Hamlin wins finale, Johnson wins title
HOMESTEAD, FL (TheSpread) – Denny Hamlin got the win in the Ford EcoBoost 400 on Sunday, but Jimmie Johnson won his sixth-career Sprint Cup Championship.
Hamlin was victories for his first win of the year to end a disappointing season, but Johnson did enough to finish plenty of points ahead of Matt Kenseth for the series title.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Hamlin had 12/1 odds to win this race, which means a $100 wager on Hamlin to win entering the race will pay out an additional $1,200.
Johnson finished ninth on the Sunday while Kenseth came in second. The final standings saw Johnson finish 19 points ahead of Kenseth for the Sprint Cup title. Entering the season, Johnson had 5/1 odds to win this year’s championship following the 2012 season, which means a $100 wager on him to win it all will pay out an additional $500.
