AVONDALE, AZ (TheSpread) – Kasey Kahne didn’t have much to race for, but he still found himself in the winner’s circle on Sunday in the Kobalt Tools 500 from Phoenix International Raceway.

View Current NASCAR Odds

Kahne picked up his first race of the season and he moved into the points lead of the non-Chase drivers. In regards to the actual Chase for the Championship, Carl Edwards, who finished second on the day, maintained a three-point lead on Tony Stewart, as Stewart came in third on the day. The two now have the same point differential with one race remaining on the year.

According to oddsmakers, Kahne had 18/1 odds to win Sunday’s race, meaning a $100 wager on Kahne will pay out an additional $1,800.

Stewart led the most laps in the race, which is why he was able to maintain the 3-point difference on Edwards despite finishing a spot back. Stewart and Edwards are now the only two drivers that can win the season championship.
