Jimmie Johnson is now chasing Denny Hamlin for the lead in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Johnson looks to regain that lead on Sunday as he is the favorite to win the Kobalt Tools 500.

Hamlin leads Johnson by 33 points in the current standings with two races remaining. Johnson is still the favorite to win Sunday’s race according to oddsmakers at the online sports book Sportsbook.com with 7/2 odds to win while other short odds are Kyle Busch (4/1), Denny Hamlin (9/2), Tony Stewart (12/1), and Kevin Harvick (12/1).

Johnson has six wins this season along with 21 Top 10’s to put himself in second. He along with Hamlin and Harvick are the only real contenders for the title this season as they are all separated by 59 points. Johnson has won four times in Phoenix with an average finish of 4.9 and a driver rating of 123.7 at the track.

Busch is in seventh place in the standings, 339 points out of first. He has a total of three wins this year and in his career at Phoenix, he has one win and seven top 10’s. His driver rating at the track is 94.8.

Hamlin leads the series with eight wins on the year. He has never won in Phoenix but has six top 10’s. His driver rating on the track is 95.2 and his average finish is 11.6.

Stewart is eighth in the standings right now, 363 points outside of first. Stewart has two wins on the year and in his career at Phoenix, he has one win and a driver rating of 96.2.

Harvick sits third in the standings, 59 points outside of first place. Harvick has three wins to his credit this year and at Phoenix, he has two wins and a driver rating of 94.6.
