McMurray gets the win

Jamie McMurray pulled of an upset victory on Sunday in the 2009 AMP Energy 500 from Talladega Superspeedway as he made a late pass to win the checker flag.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, McMurray had odds of 25/1 to win the race before the event, meaning a $100 bet on McMurray to win will pay out $2,500.
McMurray led 32 laps on Sunday, but was leading the pack when it counted. McMuarry’s victory came in the shadow of a big wreck where Ryan Newman was sent airborne.

Kasey Kahne finished second in the race while Joey Logano was third, Greg Biffle was fourth, and Jeff Burton was fifth.

Jimmie Johnson managed to extend his lead in the Sprint Cup standings. Johnson finished sixth on Sunday and now leads Mark Martin by 184 points. Martin finished 28th on Sunday.

Juan Pablo Montoya moved up to fourth in the standings, passing Tony Stewart as Montoya finished 19th on Sunday and Stewart placed 35th.
