TALLADEGA, AL (TheSpread) – Mark Martin will be up front to start the 2011 Good Sam Club 500 on Sunday after he was fastest in qualifying on Saturday afternoon.

According to oddsmakers, Martin now has 30/1 odds to win the race while the new favorite to win is Jimmie Johnson, who has 7/1 odds, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. has 9/1 odds to win.

Johnson is eighth in the current point standings. He is 35 points out of first place. Johnson has two wins and 13 top 5’s on the year and his average finish on the year is 11.0 while his season driver rating is 101.2. At Talladega, Johnson has two wins and five top 5’s in 19 races. His average finish is 16.4 while his driver rating is 83.8. Johnson will start second on Sunday.

Dale Jr. is ninth in the point standings, sitting 60 points out of first. He has just four top 5’s and no wins on the year. His average finish on the season is 14.5 while his driver rating is 83.6. At Talladega, he has five wins and nine top 5’s in 23 races at this track. His average finish at Talladega is 14.6, while his driver rating is 92.7, which is tops for any current driver. He qualified sixth for Sunday’s race.
