Truex Jr. takes AAA 400 pole

DOVER, DE (TheSpread) – Martin Truex Jr. hasn’t had a lot to be excited about this season, but he came out with the pole for Sunday’s AAA 400 and will start up front in the next NASCAR race.

According to oddsmakers, Carl Edwards is now the favorite to win the race with 4/1 odds while Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch each have 5/1 odds to win Sunday’s race. Truex Jr. now has 15/1 odds to win.

Edwards qualified fourth for Sunday’s race. He is fourth in the standings and 14 points out of first place. Edwards has one win and 13 top 5’s on the year. Edwards owns one win at Dover with six top 5’s in 14 races. His average finish is 7.6 at the track while his driver rating is 104.9, which ranks fourth in the series.

Johnson is currently 10th in the point standings. He is 29 points out of first place. He has one win and 11 top 5’s this year. Johnson has had a lot of success at Dover, as he has six wins in 19 races. His average finish at this track is 9.6 while his driver rating is 117.4, which is tops of any driver in the series. Johnson qualified sixth on Saturday.

Busch is tied for sixth in the point standings, 26 points out of first. Busch has four wins this year and 13 top 5’s, both of which are tied for the series lead. Busch has won twice in 13 races at Dover and he also owns seven top 5’s. His average finish at this track is 13.8 while his driver rating is 102.0, which ranks fifth in the series. Busch will start fifth in Sunday’s race.
