According to oddsmakers, Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson are the favorites to win the Sprint Cup as each has 3/1 odds to win. The other short odds to win is Jeff Gordon (9/2).

Busch has never won the Sprint Cup title, but he is currently tied for the lead with Kevin Harvick. Busch has four wins this year, which is tied for most of any driver. He also has 13 top 5’s, which is most of any driver. He has 16 top 10’s on the year as well, but also has three DNF’s.

Johnson has won the last five Sprint Cup Championships, all of which have fallen under the Chase for the Championship format. Johnson has been somewhat quiet this year, winning just one race with 11 top 5’s. He does lead the series in top-10 finishes with 17, and has finished every race this season.

Gordon has won four series championships in his career, the last of which came in 2001. Gordon has never won the title in the Chase for the Championship format. After going winless in 2010, Gordon has three wins this year to go along with 10 top 5’s and 14 top 10’s. He does have two DNF’s this year.

The 2011 Chase for the Championship gets started Sunday, Sept. 18 with the GEICO 400 and will run over 10 events, concluding with the Ford 400 on Nov. 20. For complete odds to win the Sprint Cup Championship, see below.
