Earnhardt Jr. wins at Daytona
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (TheSpread) – It was in the early hours of Monday, but Dale Earnhardt Jr. found a way to emerge as the winner of the rain-delayed Coke Zero 400.
The race was scheduled to begin around 7:45PM ET on Sunday night, but didn’t actually start until around 11:30PM ET. The race concluded at about 3AM ET last night with Earnhardt Jr. getting the win behind a dominant performance. Dale Jr. led 96 of the 161 laps to get the win, finishing ahead of teammate Jimmie Johnson, who came in second, while Denny Hamlin was in third.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Dale Jr came into this week with 8/1 odds to win, which means that a wager of $100 on him to prevail will payout an additional $800.
The win puts Jr. into second in the point standings, 63 points behind Kevin Harvick for first. Harvick finished fourth on Sunday. Johnson slips to third in the standings with his run, 67 points behind Harvick. Earnhardt Jr. joins Harvick, Johnson and Kurt Busch as the only drivers with multiple wins in 2015.
