2013 Poconos 400 Predictions
LONG POND, PA (ATS Consultants) - The NASCAR Sprint Cup moves to Long Pond, Pa. for the Party in the Poconos 400. Who will take home the checkered flag?
This is the 14th race on the 2013 Sprint Cup schedule. Pocono Raceway is a 2.5-mile tri-oval with degrees of banking in turn 1, 8 degrees in turn 2 and 6 degrees in turn three. Joey Logano is the defending champ as he became the youngest drive to win a race at Pocono at 22. He comes into this race with 25-1 odds according to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv.
Hamlin basically owns this track. He has four wins here and a 10.7 average finish. Last June, he started fifth and finished fifth and led 21 laps. He's led laps in the last seven Pocono races for an average of 51.8 per race.
Edwards has been slumping lately, but he should break out at this track. He has two wins here and last year, had an average finish of 9.0 on the new surface. He also has five top-five finishes and eight top-10 finishes in 16 career races at Pocono.
Newman has one win, seven top-five finishes and 10 top-10 finishes and two poles in his 22 career races at Pocono. He also has the second-most laps run in the top-15 with 2,287 and the sixth-best average finish of 6.
