2011 nascar all-star sprint showdown picks predictions odds

(The Spread) - This week we get to watch NASCAR put on its annual All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which is always a great show since this is a non points race.

Drivers will do whatever it takes to win. The All-Star race is always a no holds barred, peddle to the metal affair that usually ends in hurt feelings and battered racecars.

The first segment of the race will be 50 laps, followed by two, 20-lap segments and then a final 10-lap dash to finish. Seventeen drivers are currently eligible and two others will race their way in from the Sprint Showdown. Fans will have a chance to vote for their favorite driver to fill the third and final spot.

We think the key to this race is finding a driver who can be patient when he needs to be and also someone who isn't afraid to put a bumper on a competitor to get them out of the way. Since this is a non-points race, expect to see some things you generally don’t see in a points race. (So don't be surprised if Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch get together sometime Saturday night.)

Sprint All-Star Selections:

Clint Bowyer 10/1

Kasey Kahne 10/1

Sprint Showdown Selections:

Paul Menard 10/1

Brad Keselowski 12/1

Since anything can happen and usually does, we suggest making smaller than usual bets and just sit back and enjoy the action.
