Harvick wins the pole at Kansas

KANSAS CITY, KS (TheSpread) – Kevin Harvick solidified his spot as the favorite to win the 5-hour ENERGY 400 on Friday, as he won the pole for Saturday’s race.

Following qualifying, oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Harvick the slight favorite to win, as he has 5/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Jimmie Johnson (11/2), while Jeff Gordon, Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano each have 8/1 odds.

Harvick is 19th in the point standings, 89 points out of first. He has two wins on the year. Harvick has one win at this track with an average finish of 12.1 and a driver rating at 95.9, which ranks seventh in the series.

Johnson is seventh in the point standings, 43 points out of first. He is winless on the year with five top 5s. Johnson has two wins at Kansas to go with an average finish of 7.5 and a driver rating of 118.9 at the track, which is best of any driver. Johnson will start 14th on Saturday.

Logano qualified second for this race. He is currently fifth in the point standings, 42 points out of first. Logano joins Harvick as the lone drivers with two wins this year. Logano is coming off a top-5 finish in his last race at Kansas, but hasn’t fared typically well there otherwise.
