TALLADEGA, AL (TheSpread) –  Jeff Gordon won his first pole of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on Saturday, and he will now be up front for the Aaron’s 499.

Kevin Harvick, who qualified 38th for Sunday’s race, is still the favorite to win this race according to oddsmakers at online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com. Harvick has 7/1 odds to win while Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kyle Busch each have 10/1 odds.

Harvick is the defending champion of this race and he has the one career win at Talladega. His average finish at the track is 14.8 and his driver rating is 78.6. Harvick is ninth in the current standings with his two wins and three top 5’s.

Earnhardt Jr. sits sixth in the current point standings. He has one top 5 and four top 10’s this year. He will start fourth on Sunday. Dale Jr. has five wins at Talladega in his career. His average finish at the track is 15.1 and his driver rating is 92.7, which ranks second amongst drivers.

Busch is second in the standings, 9 points behind Carl Edwards. Busch has one win and four top 5’s this season. Busch won this event in 2008 and he has just the one win in his career at Talladega with an average finish of 23.3 and a driver rating of 79.3. Busch qualified 34th for Sunday’s race.
