Mickelson back in the winner's circle
HUMBLE, TX (TheSpread) – Phil Mickelson completed his solid weekend of golf with a victory in the 2011 Shell Houston Open on Sunday, shooting a 65 in the final round to win by three shots.
Mickelson shot a 9-under 63 on Saturday to get into the lead and followed it up with a 7-under 65 on Sunday to finish at 20-under for the tournament and win by three over Chris Kirk and Scott Verplank.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com, Mickelson had 8/1 odds to win the tournament entering the week. That means a $100 wager on Mickelson will earn an additional $800 payout.
The win for Mickelson is the 39th of his career and vaults him into the third spot in the world rankings, passing Tiger Woods on his way up.
