The racetrack is only a half-mile and the surface was changed from asphalt to concrete in 1992. Darrell Waltrip holds the record for most victories at Bristol with 12. Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon lead all active drivers with five victories each at Bristol. Jimmie Johnson is the favorite at 5-1.
Kenseth was runner-up last year at this race. He’s led in each of the last three Bristol races. He had a string of six consecutive top-10 finishes at Bristol broken last August, when he finished 25th. Kenseth won last week at Phoenix for the first win of his career with Joe Gibbs Motor Racing after just three races.
Junior is off to a very strong start with three straight top-10 finishes. he has the best average finish (9.9) of any active driver in the last 16 races at Bristol.
Long Shot
Vickers finished in the top five in both Bristol races last year, leading 126 laps. He’ll be making his season debut in Michael Waltrip Racing’s No. 55 car.
