Kahne wins Vegas Pole

LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – Kasey Kahne set a new qualifying track record at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday and he will now start up front in the Kobalt Tools 400.

According to oddsmakers, Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch are now the favorites to win this race, as each has 6/1 odds to win while Tony Stewart has 7/1 odds. Kahne now has 8/1 odds to win on Sunday.

Busch qualified second for Sunday’s race. He is currently ninth in the point standings with one top 10 in two races. At Las Vegas, Busch owns one win and three top 5’s. His average finish at the track is 15.0 while his driver rating is 104.7, which ranks third in the series.

Johnson is 37th in the point standings. He owns one top 5 and one DNF on the season. Johnson has four wins at Las Vegas in his career and an average finish of 10.6 at the track. His driver rating is 110.3, which ranks second amongst current drivers. Johnson will start sixth on Sunday.

Stewart qualified seventh for Sunday’s race. He is 12th in the point standings. He has finished outside the top 10 in both races. Stewart is winless at this track but has five top 5’s. His average finish at the track is 13.8 while his driver rating is 101.3, which ranks fifth in the series.
