Daytona 500: Gordon vs. Junior
Oddsmakers at online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL.com feel that Earnhardt Jr. is more likely to finish ahead of Gordon as he has odds of -150 to beat Gordon while Gordon comes in with odds of +100 to beat Earnhardt Jr.
Despite winning the pole for Sunday’s race, Earnhardt Jr. will be forced to move to the back of the field prior to the waving of the green flag due to a crash in practice that forced him to have to use a backup car. Gordon will start second in the race.
Earnhardt has two wins, eight top 5’s and 13 top 10’s at Daytona International Speedway in his career. His average finish at the track is 14.4 and he has a driver rating of 86.7, which ranks ninth among active drivers.
Gordon has six wins, 12 top 5’s and 18 top 10’s in his career at Daytona. His average finish is 15.4 at the track and his driver rating is 92.8, which is fourth among the current drivers.
There is a lot of buzz about Dale Jr. winning this year’s Daytona 500 with it being the 10-year anniversary of his father’s death, but he has been dealt a tough hand from the start and will have to start strong. Gordon can be more conservative and look to stay out of trouble with hopes of making a move toward the lead late.
