Newman w/long odds in 2015
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – Ryan Newman was just one point shy of winning the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship. Can Newman find a way to win the title in 2015?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Newman has been given 33/1 odds to win the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship. Jimmie Johnson is the current favorite to win it all, as he has 5/1 odds while Jeff Gordon and Kevin Harvick each have 6/1 odds.
Newman finished second to Harvick in last year’s Chase, placing one spot behind Harvick in the final race. Despite going without a win on the year, Newman was consistent and found his way past each elimination stage. He had five top 5s and 16 top 10s this year.
Last season was Newman’s first under Richard Childress Racing after having been with Stewart-Haas for the five seasons prior. His second-place finish in the standings was the best finish in his career. His previous best was sixth, which came in 2005, 2003 and 2002. 2014 did mark the first year Newman went without a win since the 2009 season.
