WASHINGTON (AP) -The Washington Nationals selected the contracts of four minor leaguers Wednesday: right-hander Garrett Mock, left-hander Justin Jones, first baseman Josh Whitesell and outfielder Roger Bernadina.
Mock, who hasn’t allowed an earned run in seven innings in the Arizona Fall League, went 2-7 with a 5.12 ERA at three levels in the minors in 2007. He was acquired in the trade that sent Livan Hernandez to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Jones was 11-8 with a 3.72 ERA this season, also at three levels. Whitesell hit .284 with 21 homers and 74 RBIs and Bernadina hit .270 with 40 steals, both at Double-A Harrisburg. Bernadina also appeared in 13 games at Triple-A Columbus, hitting .167.
