TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -Yankees officials headed to Florida on Monday, preparing for the start of meetings that will determine whether Joe Torre is asked to remain as manager.
The meetings will start Tuesday at Legends Field or the team’s nearby minor league complex.
Owner George Steinbrenner told The Record on Oct. 6 that he didn’t think he’d bring back the manager if the Yankees failed to advance to the AL championship series. Cleveland then eliminated New York in four games, sending New York to its third first-round exit in a row.
Steinbrenner is expected to attend the meetings along with sons Hal and Hank; son-in-law Felix Lopez; team president Randy Levine; chief operating officer Lonn Trost; and general manager Brian Cashman.
